Hello, I recently purchased Battlefield Bad Company 2 for the PC. My PC should be able to run it, and I have recently installed a new hard drive that I would install the game on. This is my first time installing a hard drive, and although everything seems okay right now, I may end up formatting it within the next few days. My concern is that Battlefield Bad Company 2 has a single-use code with a single EA account. If I were to install the game on my new hard drive, then later format my hard drive, can I reinstall Battlefield Bad Company 2 on the formatted hard drive and still receive everything that I would have if I had only installed the game once? I am asking because I am a bit confused about how the single-use code works. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
 
You link the code to an EA online account. If you record you EA login and password you can just re-install the game and log in using those credentials and you can play :)
 
With that one cd key you can install in up to 10 different machines.

At least thats what i remember it saying if youre using the online activation
 
Thank you for your help. I thought it would be safe, but just wanted to make sure before I was out $20. :D After installing, I noticed that I can't play multiplayer at all. Does anybody know if the server is down, and if so, when it may come back up?

Have you:
- created an EA account, logged in and created a soldier?
- installed and updated PunkBuster?
- made sure that the firewall isn't blocking PunkBuster or BF:BC2?

I've had no issues playing online the past few days apart from getting PunkBuster working, but that was a user error.

PunkBuster service can be installed, if you haven't already installed it, by running the "pbsvc_bc2.exe" found in the "Install" folder in the "Battlefield Bad Company 2" folder. Then you need to download PBSetup, which you can get here (http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php). Just run "pbsetup.exe", agree to the EULA, add the game and update.

mrjack, you were right. After installing punkbuster, it finally let me update the game and let me play multiplayer. Although I agreed to the punkbuster installation when I installed the game, something apparently went wrong and it didn't install. I got it working now though, so thanks.
