I was told that I am going to be given a Dell Precision 380. I have never had a Precision so I want some reviews on this thing! Please and Thank You

What will it be used for?

If just general internet browsing, office work etc, it will be a good system, however it won't upgrade very far from what it comes with.

If you are looking to game, compile code, render, video edit or any other hardware intensive task, no, it will not be a good buy at all as it will not handle at of that well, if at all.

There was an update to the rules a little while ago banning lmgtfy. This seems to fall under that, but without the link at all. I'm sure he is aware that he can google it, however he wants a first hand account, or the view from someone that can look at it and know what it means. If he doesn't know how to google it because he doesn't understand how to choose the correct search words, then it is good that he asked here. Anyone that then knows how to use google will potentially be brought here if they are searching for Dell precision 380, so it will bring more traffic. I doubt someone will type "ever heard of google" into google though, so your post not only degrades the OP, but it also wastes your time, as you took the time to type it out, OP's time, as he has to read it, everyone else that looks at this thread, as they will probably read it, and use up a small amount of the resources that the admins pay for to keep the forum going. Seems like post increaseing and that is all, rather than actual help. Try to steer towards the latter in future ;)
 
Oh dear seems a few of you are a bit over sensitive, my final say on the matter is that he is 21 and getting a new "pc" but doesnt seem to be very keen on it as he hasnt bothered to look for himself from his post

no, he just doesnt want to waiste his money buying a computer that is no good. which part of that made you think that he isnt keen on it?

also wtf does his age have to do with it?

Yes-I wanted First hand accounts! It is going to be used as the computer that stores ALL the files between my other 3 computers. YES i did google it-found reviews with mixed feedback-(one review gave it 5 stars-and 200 people found it unjust to what it was) so i turned to you guys here to see what you say about it. Thank You ALl WHo Helped.
 
Also to add-I am Good with Computers-I googled it-FOund mixed reviews-I love the people here-you guys are all very helpful to what i ask-which is why i came here asking you what YOU thought of the computer if you had it.

Final Word-So Far-Is I am mostly wondering if it will do a better job then the "server" type computer I am using now-which is a fossil DELL Dimension 4300.(i know i know-but i am not going to argue it was free and it does what I need it to)
 
The Dell Precision 380 would be a better server than the Dell Dimension 4300 in my opinion. You may need a RAM upgrade if the computer only has 512 megabytes of memory.

That is a problem that is easily fixed- I have more ram then i know what to do with-for all types of models
