Be ware of DELL Warranty

One of the systems XPS was purchased on EBAY and only after I called DELL Customer Support. I was told that the computer system on EBAY would transfer to me and that the extended warranty would also transfer. I was told to fill out a transfer of ownership form which I could get on-line. After filling out the form DELL approved the transfer of the XPS and its extended warranty to me. During the warranty I have had no problem getting great technical support without question. My on-line DELL account and every tech have told me how much warranty I have left on my system.
Now the system needs to be replaced after numerous hours and hours and phone calls and phone calls.
I am now told my warranty is not valid??????
Do not trust DELL with their warranty. I suggest do not buy DELL

Unfortunately.. I spoke with SugarLand PC... around 80% of the computers he services are Dell... and less than 10% are custom... we have a long way to go...

Dell is OK in my opinion, but overpriced...

Actually, I don't really like HP... Dell to me is more... better :) I've never seen one fail alot, they LOOK stable... and they are pretty good...

yea, but hp is better becuase it is cheaper but oem = for noobies, which is ok i guess...

Hmm, I'd agree that HP is better, but honestly, no one beats dell for price. HP uses parts with a bit higher quality and their customer support may be a step higher, but unless it's on sale, a Dell machine will nearly always be cheaper than a similar HP machine.

And what are you talking about when you say OEM = for n00bs?

Think me means somewhat around the words of "Prebuilts are for noobs" Although I don't like to agree with it... Sometimes you can't deny it either.

Dell's are sturdy and can handle alot more abuse than most of any other computers I've worked with (Except a good ol' Compaq)

dell are expensive if you upgrade it wth dell.

dont upgrade the ram, harddrive, or anything extra.
buy it somwhere else, and it will cost you half the price.

how can dell justify 300 euro to upgrade from 2gb to 4gb ram on an xps m1710 when you can sell the 2gb sticks for 70 euro, and buy 2 2gb sticks ( 4gb ) for 120 euro from an on-line seller.

but the basic builds are great quality in my opinion. never take the warranty, as i found them to never really hold it unless you are willing to do the distance with them and argue to hell.

well i agree that hps are really good and made well, however, i disagree dells are well made, so far with people i know, about 3 in 5 of them break for some reason.

for that i dont trust dell with products under the 1500$ range

Why do you buy it from ebay?
If you want DELL PC and could not afford their orginal price, what you should do is going to Dell's outlet section and find one.
By the way, if you read more thread in this forum, you will found no one recommend DELL.

I hope you're kidding about the customer support. I've had a Dell monitor and if something went wrong with it that couldn't be fixed through the phone they'd mail another with a pre-paid sticker in it for me to send the defective one back. HP does the same thing, but their monitor warranties last for one year and their customer service consists of Apu and his friends unless you pay for the supreme service or whatever.

I have an HP laptop and the hinges for the display are loose, but they won't send me new hinges because it's not "user-serviceable." They have, however, send me 3 hard drives and a keyboard.
