This is driving me nuts.
I've had two computers, a DEC and an eMachines, that have always beeped once after a successful POST. Friend of mine has had a Dell, and two eMachines, that have NEVER had a beep; they've just started right up. Everything I've read says a PC should have a beep after a POST.

Does yours?

Usually depends on the BIOS manufacturer, also for the record I have an Asus A8N-E board which never beeped until I upgraded the BIOS hence my thread here wondering what was going on.

Worrie when your computer makes more than one beep :p

Think all of mine does that one beep OK! Even the old socket 7s I have, think on some bios if you have the memory test disabled it wont do the Beep, but not for sure!

i think if you read the manual you will know what every beep means
because there are different kinds of beeps
for example : short beep ->successful POST
continuous long beep -> no RAM or VGA
and so on
may be your BIOS has different config.

Mine beeps when I cold boot, but when I restart I get nothing. I think it doesnt POST when you're restarting so it doesnt beep.

Did you hook up the buzzer to your motherboard?

lol, buzzer?

It beeps for instance when I don't have my RAM sticks in my mobo so that means it beeps, but no I don't get a beep after a successful POST.
