Beep

I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 running a Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo and 2 GB of ram, and it's vista with a 8400GS Nivida Card.

Does anyone have any ideal as to why my laptop keeps beeping. It doesn't do it all the time, just every so often. I checked the heat and it's not over heating...and I really don;t want to have to deal with Hel...er i mean Dell unless I have to...any Ideal to what i might be?
 
hmm is possible cuz u said it only does it sometimes so like XRT said is it possible while ur on it the power cable might just wiggle out sometimes or come loose and u not notice it?
 
No like xrt said i was clearly stating a possibility.. theres still chance something is wrong.. does it beep while using the laptop or upon post
 
now that you mention it, it doesn't even beep while in POST...hmm...but it does it during laptop use. and it happends when i am on it for a long time...but like i said it doesn't seem to be over heating. And it does it every like 10 days
 
well then like i said is it at all possible that maybe that the power cable is just coming loose from movement of the laptop and u dont notice it.. but if thats the case that would mean the battery was dying and then it would give u a prompt sayin battery low or something along them lines.. im not sure if ne 1 here has heard a hard drive beep but i have so maybe thats it.. im not sure just throwing possibilities out there
 
The only thing is when it does happen I look down and it shows it's still pluged in. I so hope it's not the HD i just got the laptop in october...
 
well see if it did the error beeps in post this would be easy to narrow down.. i think u would hear a clicking in the hdd, ive only heard the beep a couple times from the hdd so i assume its a rare thing. hmm i guess just make sure the power plug is plugged in all the time.. and then if it does it again let us know
 
okay thanks guys, and the only other thing is I don't get a POST beep when i start the computer infact it goes from the DELL screen to the login screen. I wonder if its another vista thing haha
 
Yea well my dvd drive was making a very loud buzzing the other day so I contacted hell...er Dell and asked them about both the beeping and the drive. They sent me a new one and said that the drive was causing errors.
