Beeping Noise

Hi,

I just upgraded my laptop (ECS Green 732). I installed an Hitachi 7K60 HD, and 2 sticks of Kingston KVR333X64SC25/512 RAM. When I start the computer, it beeps 4 times and I get a blank screen. No BIOS, no screen telling me to install an OS. Not sure what the problem is.

Some other info about the laptop: P4 2.7 GHZ 533 Bus, ATI Radeon mobile.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Well there are a couple types of beeps... regualr beeps, or there could be long and short one... Here is a link if it has the long/short beeps

If it is just 4 beeps it means there is something wrong with the sytem timer..

I took the new ram out and put the old stick of ram back in and it seems to work fine. ECS and Kingston assured me that this type of RAM was compatible. Perhaps I should try just using one stick of the new RAM?

could be a bad stick of ram. try one stick at a time.
