I get 2 long beeps.

Beeeeeeeeep, Beeeeeeeep!

This happens when I push the reset button while the system is running. I had to do this because my game was freezing up and there was no other way to restart the computer. Ctr+Alt+delete didnt work. I hit reset and it beeped at me.

What does this mean?

Is the beeping comming from the motherboard?
 
Yeah, you usally have a little buzzer on the motherboard or a small speaker inside your computer.

If this happenes when you press your reset, I'd wonder about a failing motherboard. I don't remember what that beep code is right off, but it shouldn't do it just when you press reset.
 
2 long beep codes? i never heard of two long, eaither continous long beeps or 2 short beeps.

edit: also, what's your system specs, i guess it doesn't directly influence the beep codes but it will still be good to know.
 
Motherboard: A8N5X
Processor: Athlon 3500+ 64
Memory: 2 Sticks of 512RAM Kingston
Hard Drive: 2 IDE 120gig + 200gig
Power Supply: True Power 430watts v1 @ 17; v2 @ 17

I'm getting a blue clean when I turn my computer on. Dumping physical memory. This is new, I know something is wrong but what? HELP!

It might be 2 short beeps.

Also something else I found strang was that my floppy dirve seems to work when I was putting the system together but it doesn't work at all.

How do I diagnose my system to find out WTF is going on in side there?
 
I think your motherboard's dying. Try going into the CMOS and reset everything to the fail-safe settings. Try removing all cards and drives from your machine(well, I guess leave the HD so it can boot) and see if it still occurs
 
Run through a pass with QUESTIONS 101 and if you can find out what BIOS it is (Phoenix, Award, AMI) please post it here and we can get what the beep codes me.
 
Two things:

1) What happen(s) when the computer freezes? Is it random? It may help to know what happens right beforehand and if there is a pattern.

2)From my experience, the bsod memory dump is a bad stick of RAM or possibly your hdd.
 
Thanks everyone. It strang but I was having memory problems. Ever since i changed the memory everything has been working fine.

If I do see the problem again. I will come back to this post and trouble shoot.

I'm not quit sure what you mean by high density. Could you explain it?

I know that the memory for my mobo was DDR (400) (pc3200) 184pin

I bought some kinston that read: DDR400ak( ) <----cant remmeber clearly but in the parenthesis there was letter and numbers.

I returned the ram and bought 2 different kingiston 512 sticks that read: DDR400\512.

The new sticks work fine.
 
Okay, I understand now. Although, occasionally when i restart (and i mean when I restart only!) I will get 2 beeps from the mobo.

I wonder why this is occuring?

Now I find myself shuiting down instead of restarting because I don't wanna hear that anymore. but like i said it doesnt happen everytime i restart instead very occasionally.
 
There's alot of tools out there. The use of one tool showed me my kingston 512 wasn't compatiable with my Samsung 256, they worked after a bios update, but memory tests showed it to be below par with other 333mhz memory. Now that kingston works fine with a ultra 512 based on the same memory tool...Cas's may have been different. Look for the tools, testlab2003 helped me and was free on a demo level at one time.
 
Okay here is my update on the problem.

The problem is still occuring.

Regaurdless of what I have said before, this is the problem.

I get 2 short beeps on the early stages of startup. The system automatically either shuts down or the monitor turns off. This happens when I restart OR startup from a shutdown.

Something strang happened yesterday. I was play counterstrike sourcse and I usually get 130 fps. It went down to 10fps and the game was unplayable. I quit restarted and the beeps occured again. I start the computer back up and it seems to work fine.

I am going to try to switch my ram sticks around and then try working with some tools. Any more ideas would be nice. Antrax or anyone who knows, how do I find out what kinds BIOS I have so I can get the beep codes.
 
Did you run a pass with memtest86 at all to see if any/all of the sticks of ram are bad?
