Before I order, just checking this build.

Alright, Im looking for a good new gaming pc. Ive decided building my own is probibly the best bang for my buck. Ive already got monitors, keyboard, mouse, case, dvd drive, hard drive, and windows.

Ive been looking at these components.

Mobo: $65
Foxconn NF4SK8AA-8KRS Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard

CPU: $58
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice 2.0GHz 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor

RAM: $50
CORSAIR ValueSelect 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Desktop Memory

Graphics: $120
ASUS EN7600GT/2DHT/256M GeForce 7600GT 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card

PSU: $40
APEVIA ATX-CW500WP4 ATX 500W Power Supply 115/230 V UL, CSA, TUV, CE

As you can see, Im running on a budget. :P
Total: $333

If you have an suggestions for cheaper equipment, or you would choose a different brand, I REALLY would not like to exceed the 330 mark (without shipping), but still be pritty up to date on the technology.

I know I put an SLI MOBO and graphics card, but I dont acctualy see myself SLI'ing two cards anytime soon. :rolleyes:

I would go with some cheaper RAM. At circuit city you can pick up a 512MB DDR400 stick of Kingston Value RAM for $39.99.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I think Im going to stick with 939, and the ram you pointed out is acctualy 10 dollers more (20 acctualy, I think Im going to get my ram at circuite city, thanks omega), and the power supply has only 18amps on the 12 volt, while for a couple more bucks my choice has two rails up to 30 something amps.


Thank you all for the suggestions, Ill hopefully order by january, unless someone else has any more suggestions. :)

Heh, I saw that video card, and REALLY wish I could get it for that price, but the reason I listed only some of them is because of time. If you take a look, that BFG rebate ends in about 4 days, it takes 3 days to ship and it would be almost physicaly impossible to get the rebate in time, even if I ordered right this minute. But in reality, Its going to be a week or so untill I order. So I listed the rebates I figured I had time to get, and just went with the normal price on the other. :D
 
That 4 days is the date you must purchase by, not the date you need to send in the rebate form in by. If you take a look at the PDF document (click on the $65 MIR link), you'll see the following:
1. Purchase BFG Technologies’ GeForce 7600GT 256MB PCI-E graphics card at Newegg.com between 12/18/06 and 12/31/06. Request must be postmarked by 1/31/07.

Heh, I guess it pays to read the fine print. Thank you so much for pointing that out to me. This really helps me out (hell, 65 bucks helps anyone out :P). This also bumps up my hopeful purchase date. Now I just need to sell my old machine. :rolleyes:
 
I was reading a couple of reviews of other 939 boards and then one said that socket 939 CPUs wont be made by amd anymore. Is this true? With the 65 dollers worth of saving from the card, instead of pocketing the money, I might spend it on AM2 instead. Whats do you guys/gals say?

If I go with AM2, I was thinking this,

CPU:

And then I dont think its worth the cost of SLI, MoBo:
ECS NFORCE4M-A (V3.0) Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce4 4X ATX AMD Motherboard

CORSAIR ValueSelect 512MB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) Desktop Memory

Everything else will be the same, Im just kinda wondering about that mobo also, Ive never head of ECS, are they any good?

I would like to upgrade in the future. :P Anywho, I think the thing I read was full of bologna. I do plan to stick with 939. Hopefully tomarow I will order it all. :D

That's correct, we won't be seeing any new S939 chips.

Your PSU isn't great either. At the $40 mark, you can't go past the XClio 450BL. This Hipro 400W is also adequate, at under $30.
