Heres the comp I've decided on making with the help of everyone in the various forums. Let me know if something is not compatible or if you have any suggestions/comments. I'm always up for finding a better bargain also. This comp will be mainly for gaming so I'll need it to run super fast :).

Picked it because it got an award and reviews seem good, but its ram frequency is DDR2 1066 which made me buy 2gb ram at 2x the price as DDR2 800 :/, my friend says you can mix frequencies but im not sure.

Anyone know where I can find budget ram? I dont like paying this much for ram.

look solid but i personally would go with a $35 Cooler Master case and an Antec PSU or something. Better i think especially for the price.
 
I guess so but I really want a side window silver/black comp with blue LED's so I can put it on my desk, Ill look around tho.
 
Im just suggestinb because chances are that case/PSU combo isn't the greatest, the PSU most likely will give out but thats just my thought. Plus Cooler Master is a better looking case in my opinion (more sophisticated less gaudy/childish) but hey do what you want we support you man.
 
I see what u mean, I guess Ill have a look at PSU's cause I hear combo PSU's dont last long either. Maybe theres a cooler master with side window? :) Also, since my mobo is 1066 and that ram is 800 wont I have lower performance on the 800? I also only have xp which supports 2gb max rite? Vista is not kewl enough for me to put $100+ on the table for.

Does standard return policy cover blown PSU's? If it does then I think I'd want to try the SMILODON and see if I like it, the USB ports are inside the front panel which could drive me crazy but I guess we'll have to see :)
 
if your PSU goes, then it might be under warranty depends on how long you've had it. And for the operation system it depends on what version you have whether it's a 32 or 64 bit. 32bit only recognizes like 3.25[?] of ram i think but dont hold it to me.

You don't need 1066 RAM. Not sure why anyone would tell you otherwise. If you're going to overclock (which I would recommend) get Crucial Ballastix DDR2 800. It's on sale right now, and there are many people who have no trouble clocking it to around 1100. It generally clocks as well or in many cases better than the 1066. I also wouldn't recommend that motherboard if you want to overclock. If you don't, it's fine. But the northbridge runs very hot on it. It's working fine for me because I have good air movement and an 80 mm fan funneled onto the cheap heatsink it has, but if you don't have good air management and don't want to work on a fix for it, I'd get a board with little better cooling.

You said your CPU was more expensive than a dual-core, but then you linked to an E4500? A much better processor for the money would be an E6400, or if you have a little to spare and what to get something really nice, E8400.

First of all the Core2Duo you're buying IS a dual core. Core2Duo line consist of dual and quad core processors.

Why are you getting an 8800 if you're not gonna get Vista? XP has no DX10 support (aside from some hacked 3rd party stuff). You would be better off getting an equivalent DX9 card. But none of this will be future proof as you seem to want.

You're getting a graphics card that will be better than the other parts in your machine. Your processor, amount of RAM, etc. is all not up to par performance-wise that your 8800 is. I would recommend going with an 8600 with 512MB. This should be enough for any gaming as long as you don't do dual screen.

You can use the lower frequency RAM just fine. And as you seem to be a noob, dont order it expecting to overclock. Especially if you're planning on having the computer for a few years more, without spending more on it. Inexperienced overclocking can mess things up and shorten the life of your parts.

I'd recommend a power supply at least 500watt, but go more if you want to be safe.

You will have to also order your disc drives.

And stop asking noob questions about free shipping for newegg etc. We're here to give you computer help not "LOL how does I ORDER newEgg plz?"

I reccomend you look at your situation, figure out exactly what you want, and rebuild a new machine, then post back here.

Mario, first off your a jerk who cant take a joke. I'm obviously getting Vista and the PC isn't going to be like that for forever, I bought a 775 mobo for a reason. The comp I currently have has an old socket which isn't even being made anymore, or else I would have just upgraded this one.I know over clocking decreases component life and thats why I'll be reading up on it BEFORE I choose to do it. Is there anything else I missed? Oh yea, I HAVE the disk drives already and thats why I NEVER posted anything about them. I know about PSU's so theres no reason to restate. I showed you this forum so I don't see why your associating yourself with your superiors by using coupling words like "we". Also, ram frequency is obviously compatible, but I don't see the point of mixing ram with different frequencies since its just a waste of money (like you did with your premade computer). core 2 duo is dual core... didnt say it was pentium dual core though.... 0.o

Everything I said in that post was right. You should have listened to me before hand. Everyone on this forum will tell you that. And since you keep accusing me of googling my information like its a sin, some googling would have done you a lot of good.
