Beginners guide to overclocking?

Im looking to start exploring the possibility of overclocking my laptop, heres the specs:

Heres what I have right now:

Compaq Presario R4000 Notebook

AMD Athlon 64 Processor
3200+
1.99 GHz

1.25 GB of RAM (Upgrading to a full 2 gigs soon)

Windows XP Home Edition SP2

My questions are these:
1. Ive never done anything like this before, is it difficult?
2. What results can I expect?
3. Is it worth it?
4. What are potenetial dangers?
 
I wouldn't attempt overclocking a laptop if I were you...unless of course you've found a way to keep it very cold.
 
Laptops can very rarely be overclocked but being a Compaq it won't be overclockable, only a very select 2 or 3 are.
 
You could use ClockGen, but that is risky. I have never overclocked from OS. I've always used BIOS. Do some research on your model on the internet and check to see if anyone has overclocked it. If they have follow the steps they did to overclock it. Thats how I overclocked mine :-)
