Best 200 to 300$ video card

all these cards are good for their price, but don't get XFX 7900gt becasue as i heard XFX cards get heated easily and they have lots of problems

edit: these ^ are pci-express cards

video cards is not just measured with memory bandwidh, if u look at 6600GT it has half memory bandwidth of fx5950ultra, but 6600GT beats it in all benchmarks

i read alot of reviews that say 7600GT beats 6800GS by 5-10%

just google it

I am saying this for the nth time, 7600GT>6800GS. Look at the benchmarks. Specs aren't everything.

the 6600gt beats the 5950ultra because it has more pixel pipelines and vertex shaders... the 7600gt and the 6800gs have the same specs except for clocks... i wonder what made that difference whats the core clock on the 7600gt? what in the world increased the 7600gt's performance?
either way my 7800gt is better :P

Prefering a Nvidia card just because it is Nvidia serves no purpose at all. Just buy a 6200 if you want a Nvidia card. The general difference between Ati and Nvidia is that Nvidia gets slightly better frames per second with no AA or AF, but the Ati cards have better image quality and the frames per second are less affected with high AA and AF.

Nvidia has more pixelpipelines, but the Ati card has more vertex shaders. If you could only combine the 24 pixelpipelines of the Nvidia 7900GTX with the 48 vertex shaders of the X1900 series, wow. Go figure.

whats the memory bandwith?

and i was lookin at the 7600 and its a 128bit and the 6800 is 256bit so isnt 6800 better?

whats better more memory bandwith or more speed clock

The 7600gt is indeed better than the 6800gs, and clearly at that. The 7600gt is pretty much exactly smack-dab in between the 6800gs and 7800gt in terms of performance/benchmarking. Any and all reviews and benchmarks I've seen point to that. Here's one for an example:

The benchmarks are down aways on the page.

The only minor conflict these two have when pitted against each other is this: The 6800gs is known to oc well, whereas the 7600gt supposedly doesn't oc that well. Apparently a decently oced 6800gs can close the gap considerably, but most cannot quite make it to 7600gt (stock) speeds. That's what I have heard anyway.

Bottom line: 7600gt > 6800gs by a good margin.
