best 2x converter for Nikon?

Hey all, I've got a question about purchasing a 2x converter (otherwise known as a teleconverter). My wife recently purchased a Nikon D7000. She has one lens for it. It is an AF-S Nikkor 18-200 mm telephoto zoom lens. She is wanting her next purchase to be a 2x converter, but we know virtually nothing about 2x converters. (I used to have one on an Olympus OM-10 - this is back in the days when SLR cameras actually took rolls of film), but I've forgotten a lot about it.)

She'd like to get a 2x converter that will compliment her lens, but there's so many choices out there, and we don't know the differences between them. Can someone help us out?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure teleconverters only work, if not works best with telephoto lenses (70-200 2.8, 300 2.8).

you'll loose autofocus with that Lens. Not sure why you'd want a teleconverter lol, effectivley you have a 300mm lens on that d7000 body.

Your better off getting a 70-300mm, which will be 450mm on the d7000
