Best 60GB SSD around £60

Thread title is pretty much self explanatory.

I'd say my max budget would be £65, and so far I've had my eyes on OCZ's 60GB SSD, but are there any better around for the price?

Here are the specs,

Sandforce 2281 Controller
525MB/s Read
475MB/s Write
80,000 IOPS

Thanks for any suggestions! :)

Here are some good deals for around the £60 or a little over mark.

Don't forget your motherboard is Sata2 only though,So you wont get the full potential from the Sata3 based drives,But on the other hand if you ever upgrade your system it will be ready so its up to you really.

Very good price for 120Gb.

I have 2x OCZ Vertex 2LE 60GB (Sata2 & not in Raid0) and they are very good performers.

I would not bother looking into any of the Crucial RealSSD drives,For some reason they all seem to have a rather low Sequential Write speeds,I mean i know its more about Read speeds but you can get better drives for the price. :)

Thanks Shane!

What you doing up this time in the morning? :P

I would prefer to go with a SATA III Drive, will be upgrading my system in July for my 21st, with a SATA III capable board! :)

Can't believe the price of that 120GB SanDisk! I may order one in the next few weeks so that I don't miss out, actually going to check the price of them at other retailers, to see if I can order one at standard price with the rest of my system some time next month.

I've seen that the Read/Write speeds on some of the drive's you've listed seem pretty low, how much would that actually affect real world performance?

Actually, the drives you have, what are the rated speeds of the drive, and what is the max you've ever seen during file transfer?

Thanks for the suggestion, what is so special about that drive?

The write speeds look pretty low compared to others.. would this actually be noticeable in real world application?

I've been doing some thinking and have revised my budget to £90, been looking at the 90GB\120GB drives on the market, as I want to store my OS (Win7) Applications and also games of interest.

I'll be pairing the SSD with a 1TB drive for storage.

I think I need to do a little research on SSD's :P

Not sure why it is faster than the Force 3 in the real world when on paper the F3 is the faster drive, but there you go. :D It may be because of better firmware?

No, the slower speeds would not be noticeable in the real world. I have the M4 and my Dad has a SanDisk Extreme 120GB and although the Extreme is faster, I can't really see any difference between the two.

I'd recommend getting a 128GB drive. 128GB is enough for Windows 7 and quite a few programs.

Those are theoretical speeds, I don't think it actually achieves that speed correct me if im wrong :)
My M4 never achieves the full 425MB/s read speed, it's usually around 350Mb/s so I'd agree with you Michael and say that they are just theoretical speeds. Even at 350MB/s read speed the M4 is very fast! :)

Yep. It may be achieved if it actually gets strained extremely to do so, but I still don't think its actually achieveable for everyday use.
