Best Air Cooler For Intel Q6600?

I just picked up a Asus P5k Deluxe WiFi MoBo, Q6600 Slacr Processor, and 4 Gigs of Crucial Ballistix Tracer Dual Channel PC8500 DDR2 Ram. I played with the thought of water cooling but have decided to go with a good air cooling setup. I have heard that a good air cooler will do almost the same as water cooling. Plus I dont want the mess and I want to be able to move my computer for LAN partys.

So I would like to know your opinion on the best air cooler for this processor. IO believe I have heard that the Zalmans are the best. Is that true?. Whats the diffrence between the 9500 and the 9700?

I went with the Nirvana. It was a good price and has lots of good reviews. It looks AMAZING and is HUGE. I LOVE It. I have not used it yet. I have everything siting in the kitchen ready to go into my Antec 900 case when I get it friday. I cant wait

so the 9700 is quieter than the 9500.. how about alibity to cool

I have owned the 9500, and now the 9700. The 9700 is by far louder on high so i run it on medium, and its almost silent.
 
I dont mind huge, actually I like huge. it just looks so cool and nerdy.. I just barely fits on the board so its perfect.
 
Sure. I just took some for ya. I downsized them to 1024X768 so you can see them better. I cant wait to get this thing up and running to see what it idles at. and how much I can OC!

Negative. Both the 9500 and the 9700 have 3-pin and 4-pin (PWM) versions. The PWM versions default to about 2500RPM. The 3-pin versions come with fan-mates, and at 5V spin at about 1400RPM.

Using the 4-pin connector and letting the motherboard decide its RPM for you is the same as cranking the fanmate up to 12V.

For some reason, you're comparing the PWM-controlled 9500 to the 3-pin 9700 (at 5V, mind you), as if these are the only two versions.

If anything, at equal RPM, the 92mm fan would be quieter.

Zalman fans are all too loud anyway.
 
Hope you have plenty of room it's huge . I using the Zalman 9700 on a E6850 , just waiting on the Q9450. I have my E6850 clocked at 3800 and running 25c idle and 47c under a load.I'd like to see your temps with that thing . it might give me some ideas.
 
I know this isn't really relivant, but with the Tuniq Tower, I'm getting 28c idle and 42c load.

I imagine your temps are around that area?
