Well, until now I used avg 8 as my antivirus for about half an year, but since my license is going to expire soon, i need a new antivirus.
What should I go for?

Kaspersky Internet Security would be good? or what anti-virus would be best?

I am connected to the internet, so I want the internet security version.
This is a home computer, with win xp home edition installed. I only have 1.5 GB RAM, so I don't want it to slow down my pc, or games or anything.

AVG8 is free, what do you mean by it's about to expire? Are you using the paid version?

Anyways, I've heard some really good things about ESET NOD32.

ESET NOD32 is really nice. So is Kaspersky, you might want to get an internet suite if your willing to pay/and if they have one.

You might also want to look into some free alternatives, AVG8 free is awesome, as is: AVAST!, Antivir!, and that's basically it.

Pls use the search tool on the forum, there are heaps of threads about this.

If you are going to pay, get Nod32, i have heard that is very good.

So what? This is changing very fast and continuously, so in few weeks another very good anti-virus may appear.

I tried AVG for about 8 months and had tons of problems with it. I even got a virus with it, took me 2 weeks to get it clean! My wife got it through an e-mail :(

I now use McAfee and I am very happy with it. Never had any problems for over a year now. I choose when it scans and updates and can turn on and off every option there is. It works great for me :)

I never liked any anti-virus software until I tried Kaspersky. Doesn't hog resources, and runs in the background. Very smooth and easy to setup and use. I don't have any qualms with it.
