Best card for $200-$250?

So i recently decided to get back into the computer building scene, and the first thing i want to focus on is the Video Card and the Memory, i haven't gotten down to what Memory i want to get but i'm focusing more on the GPU as of right now, and im looking to spend somewhere between 200 and 250 on it, a little over if it's necessary for a bigger boost, but i wouldn't want to go over 300 really. Also, i've always liked the way Nvidia ran over ATI, but i'm not sure how the ATI drivers are doing now, or how the cards are themselves, Nvidia just always seemed so much more solid to me, is it still that way? Then again it's just my opinion, but whatever, heh. Thanks for any replies.

I was actually leaning towards that one, thanks :D.

Also, i still can't find a 100% answer, and im not sure if there even is one, but For a gaming rig, would Vista be a bad option? I've read that vista doesn't run games as good as XP Pro would, but i'm not sure if thats even remotely true or not.. Probably not the right forum to ask in either, if not i'll ask somewhere else.

thanks.

Vista perform less compared to XP Pro because Vista requires more graphic processing for the eye-candy like Aero to be displayed. Hence, you will notice a frame rate drop compared to XP Pro. If your comp spec is not up to par, the game will actually lag.

And then there is compatibility issues as well. But as long as you are up to date with the drivers and patches, you should be find running Vista. Also make sure that your RAM is at least 1GB to run Vista only. For gaming computer, 2GB should enough for nowadays gaming experince.

Yeah i definately am not going to go under 2GB, especially with Vista, I can't decide if i want to drop the extra money to get vista, as i already have a legit copy of XP Pro. hmmm, decisions..

If you already have an XP Pro, I would say stick with it a little longer. At least until Vista is more stable and problem free. Well, thats just my opinion...

I'm not saying Vista is bad. Many people have a good result with Vista. So if you really want the eye-candy and all the fancy stuff in Vista, get it. Otherwise, stick with XP Pro IMO. And then you can channel the extra money to upgrade other part of your computer or just save it for future upgrades... :D
