Best card for gaming?

Hey guys. I was just wondering what the best card was for playing high quality games like World of Warcraft, Oblivion, DAoC and such. Probably not any higher than $150.

If you're looking for the best then you'd probably want the latest radeon which would be upwards of 700 dollars. If you're looking for the best value then you'd probably want the latest GeForce it think the 7800GTX is fairly recent, but i think they're still upwards of $400. The older GeForce cards would be cheaper possibly around $100-200. Radeon i believe make lower priced cards for just over $100, as do ASUS.
 
ATI all in wonder 2006 edition has a $50 rebate on it right now with newegg. With newegg it is $133, after mail in rebate it would be $83.
 
Yeah what do you recommend for around $100-$150? Because I'm running an old Radeon 9800 right now, have had it forever. Can't run oblivion and higher than low/medium without fights becoming lag fests. My roomate has a Radeon x850 and he runs all those games to the max.
 
try the geforce 7600gt, it should work great for the price you are willing to pay. Do some research on it first, dont just take my word for it.
 
The latest competitors will run a little higher in most cases with the ATI Radeon X1900 XTX and it's competitor the NVidia driven 7900 series cards. Are you going with PCI-Express(most likely) or still running an AGP type board? Several searches will provide site like shopping.com, nextag.com and others where price comparisons between various online vendors are made. Yet it comes to no surprise that newer games now seen run better on older systems then the older games that saw frequent locks. NTFS also sees far better performance over the old FAT32 OSs to add to faster access times. So finding a card not so new like an ATI Radeon X1600 or even NVidia 6800 GS may see what you are looking for.
 
Well my Radeon 9800 is an AGP, and my GeForce 5500 is a PCI, and I can't even play Oblivion on very low with the GeForce, WoW is playable turned all the way down.
 
look at the price for the 7600gt on newegg, do some comparisons on google first..............when it comes down to it, personal preference plays a big part as well.
 
I've been running an ATI Radeon 9550 256mb card since last year without any real complaints even with the Catalyst Control Center while missing the more basic Control Panel last seen on the 5.11 update. That was less intrusive when gaming there. The Catalyst is known to cause problems at times while being an easy method of customizing antiliasing, video playback, 3D settings, and other items. Yet I miss the NVidia desktop settings options when previously running an MSI 128mb GeForce FX5200 model on this old Socket A model board. For the most part newer games actually run better on the hardware here then seen with those that have been out for upto 5yrs.! Running out to pay $500- for a video card on the next build is rather out of the question there for that and a few other reasons. For the high end you will pay the high price. For the average user you'd be surprised what will work.
