Best cheap laptop for audio recording

I need something with Windows Vista and around 1 gigabytes ram for 300-400$. I am a musician and I have an Imac at home for most of my recording needs, but for some things I need to travel elsewhere, like the middle of the woods, to record because it gets too loud. I simply need something for this purpose. 1 gigabyte of ram is perfect for audio recording. Please link me to any and all sites/deals/models that you think would be good for this price range. Thanks.

Note: Nothing with windows XP please. That OS causes me more stress than any.

Well it wouldn't really matter, as long as you had a large HDD, as for any kind of high quality audio recording, your going to need external hardware.

Get a half decent external sound card, usually USB, such as a Tascam model; you can the plug your mixers, etc in to that.

I actually already have a tascam 122 unite which I currently use to interface my instruments with my mac. I am thinking of grabbing a cheap acer but the problem with most of them is they have XP on them for some unknown reason. Or maybe it's just the really small ones. Like 10 inch netbooks.

Actually screw that. It comes only with Vista home basic, which reminds me way too much of XP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ugh!!!!!!!

So to reiterate my needs, I need a computer with vista home premium so I don't pull my hair out of my head being reminded of XP!!!!!!!!!!! hate that OS with a passion!
