Best Chipsets?

What are the differences between the NVIDIA nForce4 4X, the GeForce 6100/nForce 410, and the ATI ones that are out?

I noticed that the nF4X mobos don't have a southbridge, and the other 2 types of chipsets do. Why is that?

Which would be the best for games?

ok, what i'm basically asking is...

which one is better: The NVIDIA nForce4 4X or the GeForce 6100 series of chipsets?

yup, the 6100 is an integrated grafic's card... there isnt a speed difference between them (read it on some tests, ill post em when i found them again.. :o )

so if you dont need onboard grafic's, i'd suggest the nf4x,. but thats me :)

but the 6100 has a south bridge, while the nf4x does not.

I will have a sufficient system with either a 7600gt or an x850xt, s754 athlon 64 3000+ @ 2 gHz, and 1 GB corsair XMS ram.

i was under the impression that the 6100 basically WAS the nForce 4... except with more bells and whistles, but plz correct me if i'm wrong.

its true... its basicly the nforce 430 chipset ( if i remember correctly,.. too laze yo do research atm :P ),. but with Integrated grafic's added. so if you're not using it... its useless to spend money on it imo :)

if i were to get the 6100, then the south bridge would be the nForce 410 rather than the 430. But the nF4X doesn't even have a south bridge...

I'm only going to theorize here, but perhaps with the 6100 chipset, they had to offload parts of the chipset to a "southbridge" to make room for the graphics subsystem inside of the northbridge. So, the nForce4 chipset normally has no Southbridge, but add in a graphics subsystem, the only way to cram it all together was to offload some other subsystems, instead.

Only theory, very well probably wrong.
