Best compression method?

What would be the best codec or method to really compress a video file but yet, keep the quality super high. For example, fraps uncompressed AVI files. I've seen people manage to keep the file very small while keeping the resolution and quality very high. Any suggestions?

MPEG4 is an excellent compression format.

Yeah convert it to MPEG4, it is one of the best.

Ah thanks Will try that out. Always have been useing mpeg2.
