Best computer books

I've read the computer books for Dummies and Idiots and would like to know what other books are good for someone starting out.

what do you plan to do with a computer? Build on? Work with Microsoft applications. Basic internet. Programming? Or just a basic overall book that teaches you the basics of operating a computer?

For PC repair and background, I recommend "Upgrading and Repairing PCs", by Scott Mueller. Should be up to the 16th or 17th edition now. For $50 it's cheap for what you get! Cram-packed full of info.

Another good one is "PC Hardware in a Nutshell" by Fritchman. A no-BS book that names the best parts to get.

I want to learn about hardware and software. I'm working on the basics. I think I have about 70% of that down but I want to go beyond the basics.
