which intel CPU is the best. by that i mean, which can handle the most and is the fastest? which one is the very best?

amd sucks except fx 57

...Or the X2 4800, which beats the EE 840 in a lot of benchmarks, and is considered to be an equivalent processor. Would you like to back up this claim of yours or just be called a fanboy?

also waiting for backup to come...

THG's live stress test shows that the Intel EE840 wins with multitasking solutions, and the X2 wins by about 30% on single applications. Maximum PC held a test with two almost identical systems, and the X2 beat the EE840 in Aquamark CPU, overall and Graphics, 3DMark05 and 03 Overall, CPU, and then beat the 840 in mathematica, Nero recode PSP transcode, Photoshop CS, Musicmatch 10, and Photoshop CS with DVDShrink, while the EE840 beat the X2 in DVDShrink, Premier Pro, Abbyy Fine Reader 7.0 Pro.

Yeah, from the research I've seen thechef's correct, depends what functions you'll be using your computer for. Single applications = AMD, multiple + hyperthreading = Intel

Its still opinoins.

When you get to the hgh end CPU's of both INTEL and AMD, doing the apelications we ahve noqw, the differences are so little it doesn't really matter...Look at the benchmarks its never really much of a differnce with the high ends...

Hmm would be posible to make a dual cpu otherboard that excepts both an intel processor and an AMD, so you could asighn certein programs to runs on a certien processor?.. kinda?

which can handle the most and is the fastest?
Since that is an "and" that wont really be answerable.

Most likely right now its probably an Intel P4 3.8 GHz EE:
How about a PentiumM 780 @ 3Ghz?

How about a AMD X2 4800+? or AMD FX57
AMD chips arent made by Intel

pentium EE 870 dual cores
840 not 870 :)

Well we know there's lot of fanboysm rampant (mostly cuz i took a vacation :P) but the original post asks for Intel not AMD.

Funny enough, i had the chance to test it out directly. Try a 40M polygon object render in SMAX7.1 concurrently with a TMPGEnc encode and the PEE-840 came out first (with and without HT). You can throw in a few filters on a 5minute music video via AfterEffects ported to Premier and that just kinda cements things in ... long pipelines rule for extensive cross-thread CPU-utilization

Single applications = AMD, multiple + hyperthreading = Intel
Well whats the point of the AMD K9 platform then? ;) Dual core was meant for multitasking ... now if you take the above test and change it to "Render a Premier scene + perform a Maple 9.5 calculation" you'll find the X2 comes out on top. It kinda depends on how crazy you get when doing multitasking

The best Intel is the P4 EE 3.2 dual core by far. I'm too lazy and tired to put a link.
Sorry but it doesnt exist. There is the Pentium EE 840 though.

They have a cross platform motherboard but naturally you use one or the other.

id say the pentium 2 266 "klamath" (no one said the fastest.. )

but for the time being,.. it was really a fast one :)
( unforunately, nog a good overclocker.)

I would sugest you read the question before answering :) ^^^

The best is probably the P4 840, but the most expensive is the P4 3.73GHz Extreme 1066 mhz FSB... the only reason its so pricey is because it suports a 1 gig FSB

Who runs DDR 2000 anyway?
