Best CPU fan and heatsink for Q6600?

Depends what your intentions are with the computer. I assume you want to overclock or otherwise push your cpu. I've seen a good amount of people on this forum have that cooler and have a good opinion of it. I have heard that some people have installment issues with coolers that use pushpins. Supposed to be easier, but isn't always.

The Freezer 7 is a awesome cooler for the budget overclocker.

The step up after that is the Zalman 9700, but the Zalman 8000, although not as powerful as the 9700, is extremely quiet.

Other choices include the Tuinq Tower, ect.

So the Zalman 9700 is the BEST air cooling solution for a Q6600?

God damn it, all the Zalman HSFs use the same type of fan, the only variable is voltage, which is user controlled. If anything the 9700 is potentially quieter because a) it's a better heatsink and b) it's a larger fan with the same bearing type, so you can run it at a lower voltage and achieve the same cooling results.

The only intended application of the 8000 is low profile computer cases.
