Best cpu fan/heatsink?

Right now I just have the stock amd heatsink w/ fan but I want to know what is the best one you can buy? I've heard Arctic Silver and Zalman are awesome. Any thoughts?

Zalman, Artic Cooling, and a few others can work out pretty good for bringing cpu temps down lower then the stock sink/fan combo. But that would be Artic Cooling not Artic Silver in that regard. Artic Silver 5 is the top rated thermal compound you use when installing a sink/fan combo if not reseating one already installed where the preformed paste(thermal pad) has let go. There are a few for looking over some different makes and models for extra cooling like those seen at http://www.coolerguys.com/atso9401.html

Awesome thanks for the reply! I ordered the Artic Silver 5 compound you mentioned and I think I'll probably replace my stock heatsink but I'm not sure yet. Thanks again!

Good god is that water cooling!? I'm jealous! I wish I could set up a liquid cooling system but I'm afraid that something will break and splish splash my cpu is fried. With my luck it will go all over mt expensive jeans too!

Oops! You're right! Nevermind the tubes confused me when I first looked at it. My bad. Hey what kind of heatsink is the TT silent booster? Any good? Expensive?

The TT silent booster is not too expensive (~$35 on newegg) and is pretty darn good. I looked for 2 weeks at CPU coolers, and this one was the best cooling while having a low dB fan and sweet looks!

And yes- those are just blue rounded cables and black cable sleeves. :D

I have a Thermaltake Big Typhoon-I haven't installed it, after a few months of having it, but it is very big, has a very big fan, and has good reviews, so it will probably work well.

If you are worried about breaking something you may want to follow the tips seen at http://www.dansdata.com/coolers.htm To look at some rather large sink/fan combos, http://www.xoxide.com/amdcpucooler.html http://www.sharkacomputers.com/cpucoolprod.html

my cooler is the zalman cnps 9500 led

my p4 3.4e 478 never breaks 40 celcius

That's better then the Scythe Kantana here with a steady 54C seen whether at idle or gaming including OCing the ATI Radeon 9550 256mb video card used here. A reseat of the cpu when the thermal pad turned to mush didn't any. Zalman has a good line of coolers to choose from.
