Best CPU for Adobe design programs?

I know that obviously that macs are best suited for the Adobe programs, but if I were to get a PC, what desktop(under $1000) out there is best to run programs like Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash; also would i need a upgraded graphics card to run the programs effectively? Would 500 GB of memory go along way for saving my creations on Adobe programs?
ANY HELP IS APPERCIATED
 
My system is running fine with adobe CS3

AMD 4000+
2 GBs of ram

But if you want a new desktop for doing editting then i can build one for you.
 
Haha, don't get a Mac, at least not a G4 like my Mini. It's terribly slow!

I've not done a comparison to see if there's any real difference between my Desktop (Athlon X2 4200) and my laptop (C2D T5250) but they seem to run much the same speed in Photoshop. Though if I had to get a new system right now, I'd probably lean towards Intel. They seem to have the market in general for the fastest mobile and desktop machines.
 
I really want to get a PC because there much less money but has anyone here used adobe on both PC and MAC? Ive only ued Adobe on MAC, I just wonder how much different its is on PC? On Mac you just drag pics off the internet and start editing. Its it much different and harder on PC?
 
Adobe CS3 products takes advantage of multi-core processing nicely. My computer runs CS3 programs like a dream. I can run both photoshop and premier at the same time without lag. Macs do handle these programs nicely, but not at a $1000 budget!

Yeah it should be fine - the CPU is a bit down.
 
Whta do you mean when you refer to the CPU, the processor or what?
Also i wanted to know if once i downloaded all the Adobe programs on to one CPU and it crashed or i decide to upgrade can i transfer those programs over to my new computer?

We don't talk about illegal programs here!

You will need to reinstall everything on your new computer.

I believe it works the same on the PC. You can drag pics in from anything (explorer, internet, pretty much any program). You don't NEED a quad core to do that kind of thing, but if you have the money then go for it. Frankly I'd say a core 2 duo would do just fine though.

vk3fcll - That is not illegal. He's just asking how he can transfer his existing programs to his new computer (if he gets a new one)...
