best download manager

yaa i am talking about speed.
Don't. What if the fastest program crashes halfway? Unless you've got an old 56k modem (like poor little me), speed isn't really all that important, is it?

Download accelerator plus, JetCar, massdownloader.. these tools attempt to download in parallel, by requesting different parts of the same file. On some servers, where you are faster than the server, these may provide a boost. On the other hand, they may just annoy the admins and cause them to take counter-measures. Download speed is often limited per user for a reason: to provide equitable performance to all... or, it is simply as fast as the server can go right now, so parallel requests will not help you.

Web browser accelerators, for example the ones listed here, try to pre-load links in case you might visit them, and are not recommended. Our site, for example, will refuse to serve a stream of requests for pages faster than one person could possibly read and other sites will or already do take similar action, causing you mysterious blank pages and errors.. by using a browser accelerator you are punishing the sites that provide you information.

(From www.dslreports.com)
Basically, some will work if the site allows them, other times you could get "banned" from ever downloading again if they notice you are using up all there bandwidth. I don't use any.

Try this

There isnt exactly a best download manager considering the fact that they all do they same thing. Yes, they may repair broken links, but thats besides the point. I had a download manager a little while ago. Here's the direct link to it. Download Manager It worked pretty well for me until i found mozilla. Mozilla has the best integrated download manager in my opinion. But, try that, it should be of good use to you. :)

I'm completely satisfied with NetAnts. But if you'll choose this one, don't forget to clear the spywares and adwares after installation (it comes with some malware).

To avoid banning, don't download in parallel threads (the transfer rate is in most cases limited by your bandwidth anyway), use the download manager only to resume broken downloads.

The programs suggested above are ok for http downloads. But when downloading from a ftp server, nothing can beat FileZilla.

i c, i was just pasting that from dslreports. i never tried an accelerator b4. never needed to lol.

I use it rarely, only when downloading large files. My internet connection isn't very a stable one, so it's good to know that I can resume the download after a disconnect instead of starting over.
