Best Dual Layer DVD Burner?

hey guys...just wondering...i want to buy a DUal Layer burner...so any recommendations?

As of now im using Lite-on 20x/lightscribe/free3 xtra panel..
I was suppose to but the Asus 18x but it has no litescribe feature, just wanna try it:) ...I have'nt had any problem with my previous lite on<cdrw>for 4 years and its still workin but not as effective as before obviously so I decided to buy a Lite on again

I have two Samsung 18x I got off of Newegg works great so far also has lightscribe but I got them OEM so I have no lightscribe programs to test that feature with.

the drive is less important

if you're gonna use dual layer, make sure it's the +'s, i've had zero good results with the minus dual layer discs.

and be aware up front that most set-top dvd players are not going to work well with the dual layer writeables, minus maybe the verbatims, which are ~$5 a piece on a good day.

Lightscribe basically labels the CD with a laser, while it's being burned. But you dont get full color graphics or anything, and you need to buy special media to use it.

i'd personally rather just use a $1 marker to label my discs, instead of tearing up my laser for what would have taken me 5 seconds to do by hand

it's really just a gimmick.

when i'm burning discs, i'm more concerned with the quality of the recording itself than how good my label looks.....

the ink that came from your pen will eventually deteriorate and damage your precious data, printed disk's paint also deteriorate's as time goes by ...cracking and chipping.

dude, you gotta start READING threads before you respond to them

You're typing random responses to the title of the threads, and having zero relevance to the actual topic.

You're just wasting time for people who go back and try and search through these threads for actual useful information in the future, so they're just going to create MORE threads asking the same questions.

this is a non-issue with bland dvd's, as the reflective and writing surface is actually sandwiched between two pieces of polycarbonate

the problem you describe is with cd-media which is simply 'glued' on top of the disc.

well maybe not all of them, but most of them...different cd/dvd have different standards, qualities and features...besides you can only use the lightscribe feature if you have a lightscribe dvd/cd:D

no, none of them.

like i said, the problem you're explaining was an issue with writeable cd media, not dvd's.

All you've gotta do is grab a writeable dvd and look at the side of the disc closely. You'll clearly see not one, but TWO plastic discs glued together.

Look for yourself.
