Best E6600 overclock Cooler

Hey again guys!

I am still planning my rig, and it has come to the final stages where I choose the case and the cooler. Again I have come to seek your prudency! (Please note tha aim of this system is to overclock the E6600 to about 3.2Ghz WITHOUT upping the Vcore more that 0.0625V)

Everywhere I seem to go on the internet, for overclocking, people seem to LOVE the Thermaltake Big Typhoon (found here):

It is big, heavy, and looks (in my opinion) not very good. But supposedly it does the job very well, and is quiet.

Then comes my favourite, the ZALMAN CNPS9500 LED. It looks cool, has lights and what not. It can be found here:

Considering that I dont want to overclock above 3.2Ghz (and not raise the vcore too much), which is the better cooler? Will the Zalman do fine?

Also, another issue. The MOBO that Ive chosen has a backplate (called 'crazy cool') attatched to the back of the MOBO to dissipate heat. Since both these HSF's need a bracket at the back, this thing will have to be removed. Any ideas how? MOBO here:

Any intelligent guesses if the coolers (especially the typhoon) will fit in this case? Thanks a lot.

Another quick question: by upping the vcore 0.0625V, will my CPU just DIE in 6 months?

I've heard better things about the Scythe Ninja and the Scythe Mine for OC'ing. I switched from the CNPS 9500 AT Zalman to the Scythe Mine myself. I noticed 2-3C drop in temps. The Scythe Ninja and Mine are cheaper than the Zalman 9500 series too. The Mine went on MUCH easier for me than the 9500. I still liked the 9500 I just wasn't getting the temps I wanted but I think it's due to my Mobo being wack. I'm currently investigating this. I've heard good things about the Typhoon as well. Go with what you think will look cool I guess after checking out reviews.

It is large but fit with my X1900XT just fine. My Scythe Mine is bigger than the 9500 and comes no where near the X1900XT either. I cannot leave the side panel case fan on with the Mine but I could with the 9500. The Mine is lighter than the 9500 and seats better for me. Plus the Mine is $31 on the egg and the 9500 is $63 hehe so tough chioce for me. I like them both but prefer to leave the Mine on there now.

You are welcome as helping out is a pleasure and I have had way more help from other members on this site myself. Well I cannot say for sure but I highly doubt it. I've had my AMD 3200 Oc'd and upped the voltage by .2V for oh 10 months now. But every CPU is different. I think you will be fine and I would have no issues doing it. I have never seen or heard of a CPU just "dying" after 6 months with that low of a voltage increase. I overclocked my E6600 at first just to see what it would do (I was stable at stock V @ 3.2GHZ). When overclocking and using Auto voltage it went to 1.42V @ 3.2 which I did just to see what it would do. I'm now back at stock everything as my system is able to handle any game I can throw at it with 1680x1050 with everything on High and max settings including max AA and AF.

The main issue with overclocking the Core 2 Duos are that the Notrhbridge on the motherboard gets really hot, due to the extreme FSB speeds. For that reason, you will not want the Zalman CNPS9500 (Doesn't cool the motherboard), but you will want a cooler that blows onto the motherboard, ie. the Thermaltake Big Typhoon.
 
i have the cnps 9500, but the black one with green led's. it will definately fit on that motherboard. i have heard though, that the typhoon was better.

my northbridge doesn't get that hot using a passive cooler, and my fx-60 has a 2000 mhz fsb. that's a faster bus than your c2d.
