TBH, those video cards aren't going to make much of a difference. I wouldn't pick a GPU around your PSU. Upgrade your PSU and then start looking at video cards. That or just build a new computer, lol.

Any AGP card is not worth the money. Build a whole new system and get a PCI-e card. You can build entire setups for $300-400 that would run country mile circles around your current setup.

you know that Ati made an AGP version of the 4850 don't you? It still requires a PCI-E power connector though, only a 6 pin. Pick up a cheap 500w PSU with a 6pin and you're good to go. Although it will be bottlenecked by your P4.

Like I said, not worth the money. Between the card and PSU he'll have $200 right there. And the worst part is whenever he does eventually upgrade his video card won't work with the new setup. He'd be better off getting a straight PCI video card.

It'd also be bottlenecked by the AGP bus. Btw are you thinking of a 3850 or 4670? I'm not sure if there's an AGP 4850

Yeah but a PCI card would be terrible because the PCI bus is even lower bandwidth.

I'd say get something cheap and low power enough that you wont need a new PSU, and save for an upgrade.

For a 4650 agp card, a 9500gt pci card is just as good for the same price and will atleast be compatible with a new system.

Yeah a 4670 is the best for an agp slot but the price tag shows it too. A 9500gt_1gb will play just about any game at low resolution. I have a 9400gt_512mb that plays COD WAW at 800x600 no problem and even 1024x768 but will get some slight lag in the intense shooting scenes.
