Hi, I'm about to buy the GTX 660 Ti for £240 but I was just wondering what would be the best thing to do,

I would rather spend 240-250 on a card but I can afford to go £270

What is the best card to go for playing games like battlefield 3 on ultra for this budget? also what's best, AMD or Nvidia? what is the difference between them both please? thank you :)

I'd just get the 660 Ti if it were me.

the msi 660 ti? :) I heard that the game planetside the ultra settings will be based on the 670 but it's not confirmed, just want to be on the safe side :)

thanks :) :) :) I've bought everything now except graphics card! :)

On this link http://www.hwcompare.com/13138/geforce-gtx-660-ti-vs-geforce-gtx-670/ it shows that the 670 is 33% faster then the 660 ti and here http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/598?vs=647 it get better fps in all the games. And the 670 and outperforms the 660 ti in all the tests.
Hope this helps you decide on a card :)

If you do end up getting a 670 on new egg they have a promotion that you get borderlands 2 with it for free.
And I heard the asus ones are really good.

id say get the 670. 256 bit memory bandwidth vs the 192 bit on the 660ti. plus you can choos 2 or 4 gig versions. if you can, id get the last ne you linked, since it has a full legth pcb board liek the 680, which will promote a cooler card, or better vrm set up since it has more room to put things. the 670 is a awsome card. i have the 4 gig version, and its just a beast all around. i can see the 192 bit bus on the 660ti will cripple it when you turn up alot of quality settings in game (like max aa and af)

gtx 670 all day

thanks everyone for your answers :) I'm going to sleep and think about what one to buy tomorrow :) I was about to buy the 660ti but the site is down for maintenance lol gutted! my dad actually had his card out willing to lend me the money and the site is down for maintenance! ;)

if you run any aa above 2 or 4x in most games expect to take a performance hit, otherwise its an ok card, else id go with a radeon of equivalent value.

Thanks, I'd love to have a card to play all games on max, everything at highest :) I am thinking about the 670 or 660 ti - what is radeon equivalent please? :) I really don't know a lot about graphic cards but I really want to get an amazing one :) thanks :)

im telln ya, the 670 is where its at. supurb driver support. the amd 7970, or 7950 are the equivalant for the gtx 670. somewhere in between. although, from experience, i feel that the drivers for amd cards are foo bar. just my opinin though. if you want all details maxed out in game, you really should steer away from the 660ti. although the amd equivalants are cheaper by a fair amount, they arnt going to be as good as the 670. but, either way you go, just be sure to get a card that has at least a 256bit bus, with a price range for amd to start at say $275+, and nvidia cards starting at say $300+

thanks for your help :) I really want to get a 670 at the moment they seem sooo good, thank you :) I will look into the bus I never knew it made a difference, thanks :)

The hd7970 is better then the gtx670. I made a small list from gaming gpu's from their total performance and came to this. (only showing on what you're looking for.)

hd7870 < gtx660ti (the gtx is only by a bit faster) < hd7950 < gtx670 < hd7970 < gtx680

About the drivers, nvidea is know for there good drivers (always been). So far I've seen reviews and comments the drivers from the new series are much better then the previous ones, my card uses the previous driver and runs games pretty well though. Nvidea is overpriced compared to amd and the difference between the competing cards is not that big.

But all that said, the gtx670 is a great choice. The price from an hd7950 = the price from a gtx660ti. If you're looking for the best price/performance of these cards, amd will be the winner...

Thank you for all this great info! :) I bought all of my parts for my computer last night and I decided to go for the GTX 670, it said "latest nvidia graphics card line" or something like that, so I guess its probably got the latest drivers? :)

Thanks for all your help :) If I can afford to upgrade in the future I can go for the AMD or the 680 :)

good choice on the gtx 670. and thats what i said in reguards to the 670 being inbetween the 7950, and the 7970. the way i worded it would read otherwise. but to the op, you shouldnt need to upgrade for a while. the 670 will run bery smooth. im wondering, did you get the 2 gig or the 4 gig card?

also, what cpu are you running in this com puter that the gtx 670 is going in?

Thanks :) good to hear the PSU should be okay :) I forgot about that lol! thanks :) I bought the 2gb version as that's all I can afford right now :)
