I just built a new computer, which has an AMD Athlon 64 2800 (1.8ghz, planning on oc'ing.) and 2.25gb RAM. I put in my ATI Radeon 9550 from my old computer, but I want to get a better card. I'll have a budget of around £100. I'm looking into the Radeon 9800 pro or the X700 pro, but I don't know which of these is better. There is also the GeForce 6600GT, but I'd rather get an ATI.

So basically, which of these is the best for gaming?

Thanks.

If you were willing to buy the 6600GT, the x800s are somewhat better than the 6600GT and are around the same price they have 256bit buswidth and 12 pixel pipes compared to the 6600GTs 8 p-pies and 128bit buswidth. I have also found that the x800 series are excellent overclockers.

i was about to purchase a 6600gt and then i increased my budget to go for an x800xl and i am very happy. i havent overclocked yet though.

I have the 6600 GT and it works great with all the current games. I max out settings in Half-Life 2, Doom 3, Far Cry, and all at 1024 by 768 or 1280 by 1024 for some.

get the x800gto/x800gto2 and unlocked the 4 extra pixel pipelines, and overclock it to be as fast as an x800xt or so :) haha
or get the 6800 and unlock its extra 4 pixel pipelines but that doesnt have gddr3 :(
