Best Graphics card for £60-£70

So you minimum budget is £60 and your maximum is £90 (roughly).
I assume you are wanting to play games with this, but what type of games, latesst graphic intense games or older ones? Some examples please.
The geforce 6600 perfroms quite well, and will cope with all older games, and some newer ones at lower settings

At £52.00 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814121179R I would recommend this.

But if your looking for a better performance card, I suggest the 6600 gt, like the person above me. For £67 which is easily in your budget, this is a step up in technology and will deliver better results.

Further still, you could spend a little more an go for a newer high end card, which will ensure good results and will increase the time until you will have to upgrade again. At about £81, you could go for the x800 gt which will deliver excellent graphics, and your games will run better at higher resoultions.

Once you have chosen your graphics card, make sure you check the following things:
1) The format of the card, agp 8x, or pc 16x. The motherboard must support the chosen one.
2) If you choose to buy from an internet retailer, make sure you check the shipping price, and make sure that they will actually ship to your region.
3) Prior to making a final decision, I would search around the internet (google) and look up reviews on graphics cards, and their perfomance on the games you wish to play. Use frames per second (fps) as a guideline. 30 fps is just about playable, 40 better still, over 50 it should run smoothly.

Hope this has been a help, and have fun playing games :)

or look at Video card 101
and fps doesnt tell you everything, you should base the game on how high you can put the settings and still get and average fps of no lower than 30
a good place that does reviews and comparisons like that is http://www.bit-tech.net/

If a 6600 your lookin at, save up a little more for a different card. I wasn't too pleased with mine:(

For £70 you would be hard pressed to find a 6600GT, even on ebay. My suggestion would be for your brother to save up a bit more. Maybe even ask for some as a christmas present. The cheapest 6600GT on ebuyer i could find was this.

See Video Card 101

i paid 250 for my 6600gt two years ago.
Strange ... according to nVidia, they were relased just over a year ago

Also you can unlock the 6800 to the GT..... am i right?
Depends on the exact card :) However you wont be hitting the high clocks due to the voltage used on the RAM

for 6800 it is ok, but not x800
Fanboysm?

yea but u can unlock it to 16 pipes.
Unlocking ATi cards is arguably easier (and they all use the low voltage memory allowing for higher clocks)
