best language to learn to automate windows tasks

Please advise the best programming language to learn to automate tasks in windows xp?

I am a begineer at programming so please be easy.
 
thanks man. Unfortunately, I don't think I was clear enough. What I meant to say was that I would like to simplfy tasks on a computer system for people with little knowledge. In specific I wanted to users to be able to scan documents in to a computer system. Howevere from the second the user hits the 'scan' button, I wanted the computer to take control and specify the path and folder the doc has to be saved in.
