Best Laptop for Under $400?

Hey My cousin is looking for a laptop to do schoolwork and light gaming (Ps2 emulator) nothing major like an fps game. I'm currently looking at this since it looks to be good performance for the money... Anything better out there for $399 or less?

Shit I would get the Asus and but a Linux OS on there but if it was between Windows and OSX then I would go with the Mac.

Toshiba is nice and just below Asus in build quality as far as how long they last according to studies that have been done.

The only thing I have noticed Toshiba to rip people off on is there quality of battery.
