Best Laptop/Ultrabook under US$1000 in 2017?

I'm moving overseas and I get one last shot to buy a decent laptop before I have to pay 200% - 300% more for inferior technology. I looked at Macbook Pro but for CA$1450 I only get 128gb SSD, so I want more bang for my buck.

I use it for work from home as a programmer so I need:
  • strong CPU
  • 8gb ram
  • 258gb SSD
  • HDMI port
  • 15" screen
  • 1920x1080 resolution
  • good webcam & speakers

I've been looking at HP Envy, Dell XPS, Asus Vivobook, Asus Zenbook, but I'm not sure which are the latest years or what the usability is like.

Any feedback is welcome!

His other post said he did not need a powerful GPU, so a gaming PC would be overexpensive for a piece of hardware he won't extensively use.

I've only bought Dell laptops and all were good to me. Granted they did make some crap. I've owned a Latitude C600, Inspiron 8100, Inspiron 6000 and a Precision M6300. All performed very well. Granted those are old as all hell, so won't be of use to you.

Dell Latitudes are pretty good and offer i7 CPUs.

Here's one you might be interested in.

It doesn't appear these have a web cam. I know other Latitudes do. Or you could add a web cam. They are pretty small anyway and can clip to the top of the display.
