Best LIGHTSCRIBE ?

I recently upgraded my DVD to DVD DL and left out the Lightscribe.
I didn't know that the LightScribe technology was out there.
I also bought alot of high quality lightscribe blank dl dvd's.

I wanted to know which is the best LIGHTSCRIBE burner for under $50 ?
I searched newegg.com and meritline.com and found a couple

Which Lightscribe do you recommend ?
 
Don't they pretty much all do lightscribe now?

I'm using a samsung 183l that works well.

i've never used the lightscribe, tho. i still just use markers. faster + cheaper
 
as long as it is fast then it is good but i supposed that most of them take a long time if you are printing it on a high quality resolution.
 
HP are the guys that invented lightscribe, and I think a better unit than the lite-on.
I don't have a lot of faith in Samsung either, I've been burned on Korea's electronics before.
Newegg has the HP for less than $50
 
i don't think hp actually makes anything

and truth be told, NEC and LG make 99% of the drives anymore.

Benq and Plextor have both stopped making drives, and they were the two companies making everything considered to be "good"

now all that's left is "OK" drives, hence the sudden drop in prices

Kinda like how now there's all kinds of budget media out there. $19 for 100 dvd's, etc. But the only companies who are still making good media are mitsubishi and tayo yuden, both of which are still just as expensive as they've always been.

I know this may sound stupid
but with is SATA
I saw a couple of drives that interested me, but some were SATA and some weren't
Let me know ?
 
I really like how lightscribe looks, and it is really amazing technology.
I do have about 100 sharpies, but I prefer to by a lightscribe burner.
I might just get an external one.

Waste of time, I think not.
I mean I'll be missing out in precious forum time, lol

I think its totally possible to have colour lightscribe technology. They can have a dye that changes colour depending on the wavelength of light it was exposed to and couple that with a laser that can output different wavelengths, and then you can inscribe in colour using a laser beam. ;) When the colour version of lightscribe comes out, I will be one of the first to get one. :D
