best manufacturer

Theres plenty, it just depend on how much you want to spend and whats spec your looking for. I been using HP for a while and they havent been to bad for me, no problems at all. Where you looked so far?
 
If you're going to play games make sure you get one with an adequate graphics card. Many laptops come with integrated video that can't hang with today's games. As far as brands I'm partial to HP myself too, I think they make quality desktop and laptops.

Alienware is well known for their good gaming laptops, but they can burn a major hole in your pocket.
 
Rock is also known for it's very powerful laptops that do a good job of also draining your wallet, their most powerful machine comes in at around $7000.
