The ViewSonic Xtreme has the best ratings out of those and is a "gaming" monitor. I would say that is the best one, but is also the most expensive. Is price a factor?

price is a factor, i don't want to pay much more than $500, these are also in canadian dollars

Well now i'm set on the Samsung SyncMaster 930BF 4ms response time $495, with DVI, pretty expensive though...
700:1 contrast ratio

Wow, yes that is a nice monitor. There are so many to choose from, keep looking until you find the one you really want, and if there is a store near by, see if you can test it out.
