What is the best motherboard these days for an AMD OR Intel processor setup?

Have 3k for a build without getting a monitor.

Only things that are certain are Video card and OS. So looking top o da line Motherboards here. Anyone?

AMD's best is the ASUS L1N64 WS mobo, with two AMD FX - 74 CPUs, but you must have all four memory slots filled plus have vista ultimate 64bit to take full advantage of the multiprocessor and memory arcitecture thingy-me-bob. so after all that, it tends to get a tad expensive!!!

Personally, if I had $3000 to spend, I wouldn't be going with that evga board.

I think you would be much better off getting a board that can support DDR3.

Then use some of that dough on the QX6850 and some DDR3 and overclock the whole FSB to 1600MHz.

This system would work wonders, and last you a long time.

It comes in at a total of: $2,811 - $200 remaining :)

With some of that cash i'd get a better heatsink and some thermal paste, to help keep your CPU temperature down and performing excellently, here are some suggestions;

ZALMAN CNPS7700-ALCU 120mm 2 Ball CPU Heatsink and Fan:

Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Paste:

Thenn... the remaining dosh perhaps in a slightly bigger monitor?? :
DCLCD Black 24" 2ms LCD Monitor:

That in total should come up to about $3,000 and will be an amazing build that will last you YEARS to come. Well theres my suggestion, hope it helps.
