Best option for a small network

I was asked to but together a small office and I'm not sure what the best method is. What I need to do is setup 3 computer and a printer fax machine so that they can all talk to each other.

In your opinion what would the best method be and what extras would I need to make it work. Of course they all would need to connect to the Internet.

When you say talk, what do you mean? Like share files?

Just that router and a few wires, a bit of know how in Windows networking, which is super basic...
