What's the best way to do this? Can I mount my mac drive on my pc even though it is formatted differently?

Ultimately, I want to sync my itunes libraries but don't want to pay for it so I am giving up on that for now. But I want a folder on my mac that I can sync to a folder on my pc BUT I want restricted access, so not just anybody on the network can get at the stuff on either (will be on a college network).

Thanks guys.

www.getdropbox.com will allow you to sync up to 2gigs of files for free from multiple computers and it is Mac and PC compatible. However, there are some caveats as it doesn't always play with the data forks and resource forks from HFS+, but I think that would get you started.

You can install NTFS3G (google it) on your Mac to allow it to write to HFS+ file systems. Then mount your PC drive on your Mac and push the files out that way. However, if you do it over a network you don't need to match file systems as the Mac will use SMB (samba) for file sharing. Just turn Windows file sharing on in System Preferences >> Sharing, and you should be able to just hit cmd + K and then enter smb://ip.of.win.box and it should ask for authentication, put in your credentials and voila. You may need to set up sharing on the PC side as well.
