Best PCI card?

Hey I currently have the Radeon 9250. My computer only has PCI not PCI express.

So in my case I can't run games like Oblivion or Chronicles of Riddick. What is the best PCI card so that perhaps I would be able to run a game of that quality?

A GeforceFX 5700LE, but I'd really recommend getting a new motherboard (with integrated video for until you can afford a discrete card if necessary).

No PCI card is capable of giving you a decent framerate in games such as Oblivion or COR.

But, Cromewell is right the 5700LE is among the best.

I'd be more than a little hesatant to recommend a socket 754 board, 939 maybe but it's also a dead socket now.

There's nothing wrong with getting an old Socket interface if you never plan to upgrade :P So...do you plan to upgrade if you get another mobo?

Yeah I do plan to aquire something upgradeable. I currently have DDR2 ram. I also purchased a gig stick of DDR2 so I would like to keep that in, I've summed it up to me needing a new motherboard. Now as far as a getting a motherboard I need to figure out if it will be compatible with my a1106n computer. I have no idea what the whole socket thing means 939, or whatever. But I do know I want something that will work on the newer games but I will be able to upgrade in the future.

You have an LGA775 board based on a 915G. The limiting factor will be your case. Does it have space for 4 expansion slots (PCI, PCIe, etc) or only 3?

Here's an Idea

My friend is 22 and recently married. He is a gamer and one of my best friends (just some back story). I called his wife to get permission and banded together all his friends, family, co-workers, and people he knew to donate for a new system for his Birthday. In only 2 days of fund raising we had $1700 with which we built him an Opty 165 ABIT AN8 300GB HD 2GB Ram 7900GT Green case with green fans/lights, DVDRW and 20.1" widescreen monitor wireless kb/mouse. Shocking but just a thought / suggestion. Now of course he gave his old computer P4 2.8Ghz HT 1.5GB ram, 6800GT AGP to another friend who had an Athlon XP 2200. He also threw in on the computer we built my roommate for his Birthday which was also an Opty 165, 7600GT, ABIT AN8, New case, DVD RW (same ram and Raptor HD). So what goes around comes around. But I have a tight group of friends. It helps I also kind of ran point on all 3 of those deals. :D

If you have 4 slots you can get a microATX board (and it makes it just a little easier to find semi-decent boards).

Are you sure you don't have the AGP slot? If you are running DD2 RAM I suspect you have a AGP slot but are calling it PCI. If you do have a AGP slot then there are several cards that should be able to handle games like the one you are talking about. Before I upgraded to my current system I was running Battlefield 2 on a Nvidia BFG 7600 GT 256MB video card with no problems at all with 1GB DDR system ram.

I've seen the specs, it doesn't have AGP. It is a 915G based board so it has integrated video and 3 PCI slots.

yeah :( so pretty much I have no options

I would really like to find a motherboard that I could replace this one but I don't know the cons :(
