i would recommend saving up and getting a 6600gt or 6800xt. these are both good probably cost about $150 . Its not worth updating your card if you get a cheap one because the new games wil run very crappily. yeh definately save up i got A 6800 FOR £100 and is very good, plays battlefield, oblivion etc very nicely
for $150 you can get a 7600gt which is actually much better than both of those cards :)
6800xt = lose. i hear some 6800xt's can be majorly unlocked though.

yea if you can figure out a way for them to ship you a card thats out of stock ;)
7600gt for $150 after mail in rebate. (theres also one for $160, the mail in rebate one starts at $170)

x1600XT for $141

the x1600xt has near twice the memory clock of the x1600pro... and faster gpu too... by about 100mhz depending on the manufacturer thats selling it.
the x1600xt and 7600gt are MUCH better than their counterparts the x1600pro and 7600gs. its definitely worth the upgrade.

Id question why it's out of stock...;)
Gets pretty good reviews, and if it wasnt good it wouldn't be $137, newegg are pretty good with their pricing

the 7600gt beat the 6800gs. 6800gs beats 6800xt.
the 7600gt has 12 pipelines, and the 6800xt has 8.
the 7600gt has around a 1.5ghz memory clock 128-bit.
the 6800xt has around a 1.05ghz memory clock 256-bit.
the memory will be about the same... but the 7600gt GPU is actually 160mhz faster and has more pipelines... in short the 7600gt is much better.
the $20 extra is why the 7600gt in turn is also priced correctly, like the 6800xt is priced correctly :)
im not all that worried about it though.. i have a 7900gtx in the mail :) lol sry

True...if you live in america...but the sites i buy my stuff off(here in ireland, too dear to import from US or UK) would differ with respect to pricing. Check out this link: komplett.ie
Check out the 6800GS going for more than a 7600GT!!

I actually wonder if it will come back in stock. The 6800XT gave performance similar to a 6600GT, which the 7600GS solidly beats. I don't have any reliable benchmarks, but i'd say that a 7600GS should beat it (and it's $40 cheaper). A 7600GT would certainly have an easy time of it, at only an extra $10.

As for the reviews, it wasn't a bad card for its time (it's main advantage was its unlockability), but it's been superceded now.

Depending on whether you want to spend the money, of course. Given that the 7600GT is about 50% more expensive than the 7600GS, i'd say that both cards are fairly priced for what you're getting.

That's not actually that unusual. For quite some time the 6800 Ultra was more expensive than a 7800GT. Price is certainly not always an indication of quality.

Both will be completely destroyed by a $150 7600GT, which offers performance similar to a 6800Ultra.
