Alright, I'm not the greatest when it comes to computers and I'm attempting to get all the security programs needed for my computer for the best protection.

I know you should not have 2 Anti-Virus programs, or 2 Firewalls. Right?
Also, is it bad to have several Anti-Malware/Spyware programs?

I looked up several programs and came to the conclusion on using the following programs.

Firewall -
Zone alarm

I have Windows Defender but I believe that its only a one way firewall. If i have Zone Alarm should I disable Windows Defender so i don't have 2 Firewalls running?

Anti-Virus -
Avast! Free Anti-Virus

Malware -
Emsisoft Anti-Malware

Adware -
Lavasofts Ad Adware SE Personal Edition

Spyware -
Spybot Search and Destroy

Registry Cleaner -
CCleaner

Ive heard that its smart to just stay away from registry cleaners for some reasons and that they will not make the performance of your computer noticeable at all to you. Should I not get this?

These are the programs I was intending on getting. Everything I get needs to be free. Are the programs I have listed a good way to go. Again I have no knowledge of computers.

Ive also heard of these programs:

Microsoft Security Essentials
Mywot
Noscript
Spywareblaster
Spywareguard
Malwarebytes

Should i get any of these in exchange for ones I have decided to use?

I don't know the difference between Adware, Spyware, and Malware so I don't know weather I need separate programs for each or not.

I would greatly appreciate help on this, thank you!

My advise would be to get rid of the following programs.

Emsisoft Anti-Malware
Lavasofts Ad Adware SE Personal Edition
Spybot Search and Destroy

and install Malwarebytes and scan once every few days after updating of course as it doesn't auto update.

You can disable windows defender and use a separate firewall if you wish. Being behind a router helps also.

As far as virus protection you have installed a good one, Microsoft Security Essentials is also a good one.

And yes, you can only have one antivirus program running at any given time.

Run Ccleaner once a week or so to keep your system from bogging down with temp files and such.

I don't know about better. Each program scans for different things. Basically if anyone is asking for free antivirus software, we either recommend Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials.

However, nothing is full proof, you will get infected. It's just a matter of when.

That would be my advice exactly. Adaware & Spybot are so last decade.

Malwarebytes paid edition is only AU$30.00 & that is for lifetime use, lifetime program updates, & enabling the 'auto-update' feature + providing 'real time' protection of your web surfing, emails, & system.

AVG antivirus are the best !

AVG 2011 is well documented all over the 'net for causing all sorts of heartache.

I would suggest using Malwarebytes instead.

i wold also get rid of Zonealarm, i use to use it back in the days myself but no point in using it now, it really screws up ones system if not careful, ive had more luck using Filseclab Personal Firewall, but thats just me :)
