Best upgrades for Lenovo H50-50?

Hello everyone, I have been wanting to get back into gaming for awhile now but don't have a PC that is currently up to snuff. I have a Lenovo H50-50 with an Intel Core i-5 4460 (3.2 GHz), 12 GB of RAM (8 and 4 GB sticks) and no graphics card. The highest I can go with RAM is 16 GB, and I only have two slots for it.

Would it be worth it to go up to 16 GB of RAM?

What kind of graphics card would be the best for around $150 US? I was considering this one as a friend recommended it, but he said it was kind of old:

Thanks in advance!

Edit: I would be willing to go up to $200 on the graphics card if the performance would be significantly better.

The gtx970 is under 200 used on ebay and better / newer than a 750TI. Jusr double check that your motherboard can use it (it should)

What power supply is in there? Based off this spec sheet it could be one of several. You'll need a new PSU for a dedicated card either way as the card will consume more power than the built PSU can provide. 4-500 watts should cover it.

How much space do you have for a GPU? Measured from the back of the case where the PCI-E slots are. Judging by this picture, not much.

You're looking at an RX 460/470 or GTX 1050 TI. All are good options, although the 470 is worth the little extra money IMO.

Sorry for the delay, I've been away from home. My power supply is 280W, so yeah I will definitely need to get a new one. The room I have for PCI slot from the back of the case to the RAM is 6 1/4 inches.
