Best Value Z77 Board

I finally have the money to pull the trigger and purchase parts (yay :D) and I have the majority figured out. I'm having a difficult time finding a board. Newegg has a combo which is the i5-3570k and a UD5, but it is a bit expensive. ($392.98) There is another combo with a UD3H for ($362.98) so I don't know if it is worth the extra 30 dollars. Also, do ASUS and MSi have any comparable boards?

I like Gigabyte so I'd go with the UD3H. The UD5H has a couple of extra features but if you're trying to save money go with the the UD3H. I even dropped down to the D3H to save some cash.

There are some other good boards that are about the same.

I've heard good things about the ASRock Z77 Extreme and the Asus P8Z77-V LE.

Although, I'd go for the Gigabyte over any other brand.

Yeah the ASUS P8Z77-V series are good boards and ASRock also have some good Z77 boards (Extreme6). I like the Z77X-UD3H too though, so see if you can get one of those or perhaps maybe a Z77X-D3H if the UD3H is too expensive.

I loved the ASRock Z77 Extreme4 i got, was killer with a 2500k, reat features and the bios were beautiful, but i haven't used any other boards near the price point so i can't really compare it, but i'd love one for myself

Did you win lotto or something, 6 months ago you couldn't afford a $50 PSU. ;)

i built a $1000 (in parts) monster for a dude while you were gone :P 2500k, F3 1tb, MODXSTREME 600w, 6850, 16GB's of 1866, all in a server rackmount, got paid 100 (bought my 470 with it, check my sig) plus 45 in rebates and Dirt3, RAGE, amd Stalker COP game codes.

The difference between the UD3H and the UD5H is that the UD5H includes Bluetooth and WiFi so if you don't need those extra items, stick with the UD3H.

I just completed a build with the UD3H and the i5-3570k and am very pleased with the combo.

Wait. What do you mean bluetooth and wi-fi? So if I don't build with a Mobo that has wi-fi then I won't be able to connect to wi-fi?

The UD5H also has dual-gigabit LAN too.

You can buy a cheap Wi-Fi adapter to use and you'll be fine. You can also get a bluetooth adapter too if you really want BT.

can't find it on there but i'd bet the ud5h also has a better power phase setup, meaning it will overclock better with more stability.

I Don't really have intentions of doing major overclocks just because my primary gaming system will be a console. I really dislike consoles because using 8 year old hardware to play modern games is just wrong, but when you cant get friends to purchase a good computer for gaming you get limited.

On the other hand I cannot decide what Peripherals and graphics card to purchase unlike I stated before. I was thinking about getting a 7850, but $250 is a bit of a stretch for my budget. I was considering a HIS or Sapphire card but I don't if their cards are as reliable as a XFX or MSi. for peripherals I do not know, I believe I'd have to go a Microcenter or similar store to really get a feel for a product before I purchase it.

That's a relief. I doubt I'll ever need BT, might just get a Wi-Fi adapter.

I can't really help you with the peripherals but a 7850 is a good card and would play most games fine. It'll be good for a while so I'd say if you can afford a 7850 then go for it. Sapphire's cards are good and so are HIS cards, given the choice I'd go for a Sapphire but that's just my choice.

really you can get a 2gb 6950 for 200 normally, and they are almost the same performance IIRC, there was like one or 2 570's around there too but they have like 1280mb vram so i'd prob take the slightly slower over the soon to be screwed.

If your budget is tight you could get a 6870, that's what I'm getting :).

It would be better to go to a store and see if the peripherals look good and are comfortable. It really depends if you want a real gaming keyboard and mouse or if you're happy to game using a standard keyboard and mouse.
