best video card for gaming

IMO the 7600gt. I've seen it be narrowly beat in benchmarks by the x850xt and narrowly win different ones. Add to this the fact the 7600gt has shader model 3.0 as opposed to the x850xt's 2.0, and it is newer technology overall anyway....yeah I'd say hands-down 7600gt.

that is very true, but the x850xt has more pixel pipelines and 256-bit memory. The 7600gt has higher clock speeds but can be reached with some overclocking.

The 76GT is, in general, a somewhat better performer, but also more expensive. A distinctive bonus is the fact that it has a single-slot design, and is quieter than the X850XT.

The 76GT can be overclocked as well - there's no reason to say they have the same clock-ceiling.

I would have to say the x850XT PE, since it has higher memory bandwidth, more shader operations, higher pixel fill rate, higher texture fill rate, more vertex operations, 256Bit bus, more pipelines, more texture and raster operations.
