best video card for my budget?

what is the best performing video card that is under $200? i want to play some pretty graphics intensive games. my screen res. is 1400x900 (i know, it sucks.) all the other info that you may need to know is in my sig. thanks.

instead. I know you said you want to stick to ATi, but the 460 (1GB version which has 128 bit memory) stamps all over the 5830 and nearly matches a 5850, but is much cheaper. I would try to get over whatever problem you have with nVidia or love for ATi so you can get a much superior product.

If you are completely set on ATi though, the 5830 is the best you are going to be getting within your budget, the 5850's are, after all, near $300 for the cheapest
 
is the gtx 460 only for Amd or is it compatible for an i7 930 as well? Sorry for the noob question, but someone just told me that and i doesn't sound right

If your system has a PCIe slot and a power supply that can handle the card, it will work with it. Same goes for every other PCIe card. The motherboard, chipset and CPU doesn't matter at all
