best video card under $100

^^^absolute crap mobo, practically no overclocking/overvolting options at all. And a 9800gt is better than a 4670 for the same price pretty much. I've owned an Athlon II 245, and the E3200 wolfdale celeron, and would rather have the celeron. Plus the P43 board I linked to is waaaaay better at overclocking the celeron than that board would be at overclocking the Athlon II.

I guess we also need to know what resolution he's gonna be gaming at. OP-What monitor do you have and what resolution do you game at? It's crucial information when picking a GPU.

Yes and also a part I overlooked with a socket 478 celeron, he most likely also has SDram pc133. 512mb is the typical max, which is NOT enough ram to play COD MW2 let alone it being too slow. Even 1gb isn't enough. 2gb is the minimum anymore to play modern games.

i have 2gb ddr ram. and my system currently plays COD MW2.

Ok, let me tell you my ultamate plan.i want an i7 system, but i cant afford... so my plan is to buy parts that i can use on my cyrrent system (video card, PSU, dvd ROM, OS, and case. gather thoes parts, and save my money, and once i have enough money, and all the parts i just listed i will buy RAM(ddr3), mobo, and cpu.

i will do that instead of making a pent-D system and re-upgrading to an i7

does that make sense?

HIGHEST RESOLUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

i have a 22in hdtv

resolution: 1366x786

Ahh see you updated your sig, thanks. I don't know how you are playing MW2 with that CPU, like I said I had a P4 631 at 4.5ghz which even at stock 3ghz speed would blow your CPU away like mad and it still wasn't enough to play COD for me....15-35 FPS massive lag. Popped in an E7200, and bam 100+ FPS.

With that resolution, any card mentioned can play MW2 at good framerates. I would NOT get any card without an external power plug though. Your current board only has PCIe 1.0, which only supplies 50w. All these cards linked to were meant for 2.0, which can supply 75w of power on it's own out of the socket. If you got the 9800gt or the 4670, quite possibly it may not even work and/or you could blow the motherboard.

my mobo has many overclocking settings

how and i check thr FPS on my system????

an im debating on the 9800gtx+ or gts250

No problem.

I find 15-25 FPS to be unplayable. I typically like ATLEAST 40 FPS as a minimum for smooth gameplay. You have to be getting a lot of lag.

FYI, 24hz is what movies are filmed in, which is moderately smooth, 30fps is "playable", but i agree, i prefer 60fps in games.

thats why i want to upgrade my gpu

i was hoping the agp 6800xt to a pci 9800gtx+/gts250

would boost me a solid 10-20fps even with my processor

Doubt it quite honestly, check your cpu usage in a game, i'm sure you will be surprised at how much usage its getting.

It should be pegged at 100% the whole time.

Even with a 6800xt, the CPU is the definite bottleneck. You will not get any more FPS with that CPU regardless of the card.

BTW, if your board only has AGP and PCI slots than you can't upgrade anyway. All the cards shown require a PCI-e x16 slot which I doubt you have if it has an AGP slot.

Yeah, it's likely that you don't have a pci-e slot. There are some exceptions, though. Asrock especially makes some psudo-upgrade boards, that have both AGP and PCI-e slots, along with slots for ddr and ddr2 RAM. Is the OPs board one of those?

As long as the fps are stable then, why would you need or want more than that. 30fps is way more than needed

 No way man, anything below 50 FPS and I notice lag. Maybe I'm just spoiled having over 100 FPS all the time.

I've heard people say that the human eye can't detect more than 30 FPS, well my eyes are extra special then because thats totally BS to me.
