best way to clear cmos

i need to clear the cmos which is the best way i can do this because my bios is corrupt is it possible to take the cmos battery out and turn the pc on with out the battery in or will it damage something.

What did you do to corrupt the BIOS? Did you flash the wrong one? if so then Reseting the CMOS shouldnt work. If ots a different reason. Un plug the computer, take the CMOS battery out for 5 minutes. Pop the battery back in, plug the computer back in and it should be reset
 
i flashed my bios with the correct bios off the official ECS website but after i flashed it the computer wouldnt boot, so dont know what was up with it but it have corrupted my bios unfortunatly:rolleyes: i have KN2 extreme motherboard.

you the cmos memory probably wasnt cleared when the bios was flashed, this can cause errors on systems depending on what has been included in the bios update. if you cant take the battery out as elmarcorulz explained just set the clear cmos jumper to clear for about 30 seconds and then put it back in the original position. make sure the power is disconnected while doing this.
if you still have a problem after this all is not lost, you can get into contact with the motherboard's manufacturer and probably order a new bios chip.
 
ived tried the jumper for clearing cmos and my bios chip there is pins fastening it to the motherboard so how would i get it off.
 
This method is VERY VERY risky, so I shall not be responsible for any damage this method may cause. Find a friend with the same MB model and revision as yours, and turn his comp on and load the flasher prg (I'm assuming it's on floppy). Remove his BIOS chip and insert yours into his MB. Flash the BIOS. This method is known to work on some P3 boards, but it doesn't work on all. ONLY try this as a last resort.

you need to switch the jumpers around and keep it like that for 10 seconds, then switch it back.

Or leave the battery out for around 5 minutes and then put it back in.

I assume you did both the jumpers AND the battery removal at the same time? (regardless, refer to manual)
